Extended Day Program Director (Aug 2005 - Present)
Three years in an Administrative/Teaching position responsible for hiring and managing seven teachers and providing curriculum and instruction for up to 300 children. Created relationships with various childcare centers as well with the University of Washington in providing child care. Organized many field trips and led excursions to sites throughout the Seattle area.
Resident Teacher (Aug 2004 - 2005) One year intensive co-teaching position in a multi-age kindergarten and pre-school classroom. Deliberate focus on collaborative teaching and individualized curricula. Gained invaluable experience observing and participating in all aspects of the educational process through the school's acclaimed Resident Program. Co-authored, implemented, and taught math curriculum on a weekly basis. Was integral in the restructuring of daily, level-wide, "language lab" curricula focused on developing language arts skills. Led parent conferences and wrote detailed narrative reports for students.
Private Guitar Instruction (1995-present)
11 years of private guitar performance and theory instruction. Provided coaching for dozens of students over the years and have been referred by many Middle and High School band directors.
Littleton & Boulder Valley Public Schools (2001-2003)
Held a three year substitute teaching license in Colorado. Flexibly taught all grade levels from 1st through 12th and was able to teach effectively with little background or teacher preparation.
Dream Catcher Direct Instruction Centers, Boulder (July 2001-August 2002)
Successfully tutored remedial spelling, reading, and math to students of varying ages. Responsible for grade level advancement in all students.
Activities and Interests
o I've been playing, studying, and teaching Classical and Jazz guitar for over 11 years.
o Throughout the past seven years I have played with various musical groups and ensembles and have performed with musicians in Denver, Boulder, and Seattle. I'm currently playing in the Hal Sherman Jazz Orchestra.
o I have played on and coached numerous Lacrosse and Basketball teams during and since college. I have coached high school lacrosse, elementary school basketball, and helped direct elementary school choir.
o Deep interest in evolutionary science and a love of popular science, especially the development and inner workings of the brain. |
